If you feel that procrastination is affecting your level of productivity, or your quality of work—then you are not alone. There are many reasons why we procrastinate, many of which are sincere challenges we all come across in our daily lives. Below are just a few reasons why we procrastinate, and how to break the cycle once and for all.

You Don’t Enjoy The Task At Hand

If you have a task that you do not particularly enjoy, it is easy to put it off. For example, if you have 5 things on your daily to-do list—you may leave the one you like least for last. When you get to the end of the day, you may move the task to the next day.

How to Stop—An excellent way to stop this reason for procrastination, is to complete the task you enjoy leas—first. This way you will not spend the day dreading the task, or subconsciously working slower so that you can roll the task to the next day. As a bonus—crossing the task you don’t enjoy off your list will give you a great sense of accomplishment.

The Task Is Overwhelming

Many of the things on our to-do list are so large or time consuming that you may not be sure where to begin. As counterproductive as it may sound, you may use this as a reason to put off getting started

How To Stop—The best way to stop this reason for procrastination is to break the project into smaller, bite-size chunks. You can also delegate part of the tasks, or ask for help.

Lack Of Confidence

If you only procrastinate when it comes to tasks that you lack the confidence in, then it is time to do something about it. Start by identifying if it is truly a task that you do not excel in, one that you are good at but don’t believe so—or simply a task you don’t like. If the task is not your strong suit, remember that practice makes perfect.

How To Stop—The best way to stop this reason for procrastination, is to seek out the tools you require for success. This could be anything from gathering more information, to increasing your training. Also make sure to celebrate your success along the way.

If procrastination is part of your daily life, then it is time to eliminate the stress it causes—and take your life back!
